L’intelligence artificielle l’a rendue urgente.

Tradiant is an applied research practice.

We work for institutions and companies whose value remains locked in records they cannot exploit (archives, registers, collections, industrial and technical records, operational data) and who need those records to produce something: a decision, a service, a system they can trust.

Clean but unusable files

Most of that material cannot be searched, cross-referenced or relied upon. And much of it can no longer be read by the people who hold it. So organisations digitise without knowing how to read what they have, and structure without knowing why. The result is clean, unusable files: an archive that answers no question, or a system that answers the wrong one. When an artificial intelligence project fails, this is almost always where.

Yet the methods are not new. Libraries, archives and research institutions have been solving these problems for decades: entity disambiguationTelling namesakes apart: knowing whether two mentions of the same name refer to the same person, place or institution., authority filesThe single reference record that identifies a person, place or institution unambiguously, and to which every mention is linked., ontologiesThe model describing the kinds of things a collection holds and how they relate: who was born where, who signed what, which deed concerns which plot., annotation protocolsWritten rules ensuring every document is described in the same way, whoever or whatever annotates it., provenanceThe preserved link between each piece of data and the document it comes from, so you can always check where an answer came from.. They work to international standards and to measurable rigour. That expertise simply is not where companies are used to looking. We bring it to them.

What we do

Unlike digitisation providers and AI integrators, we establish what the material proves before anything at all is built on it. Verification is an old discipline. Artificial intelligence has made it urgent.

  1. Pillar 1

    Audit and diagnosis

What you actually hold, what it is worth, and what can safely feed a system.

You receive An inventory of your material with its condition and its gaps, and a costed roadmap setting out what can be done, in what order, and what it will take.

  2. Pillar 2

    From document to data

Automated transcription of handwritten and printed documents, information extraction, georeferencing, entity resolution, ontologies and authority files. We also specify and arbitrate shared data models, where several institutions have to agree on one.

You receive A structured corpus, its data model, its authority file, the annotation protocol behind it, and documentation your own teams can work from.

  3. Pillar 3

    AI system reliability

Reference datasets, test cases, evaluation protocols, and evidence that answers are genuinely grounded in their sources.

You receive An annotated reference dataset, an evaluation protocol and its report, and a reasoned opinion on what the system can and cannot be trusted to do.

  4. Pillar 4

    Research capability

Complete programmes, run under our scientific direction, with the specialists we recruit and lead. Designed for institutions that have the material and the budget, but not the team.

You receive The scientific result you commissioned, and the structure it leaves behind, usable long after the programme closes.

In the field

Tradiant works with Luxembourg public administrations, heritage institutions and research bodies, preparing their corpora, designing their reference data and evaluating their search systems.

Current engagements cover manuscript and cartographic collections, archaeological research programmes, the evaluation of AI-assisted search, and the continuity of a public service changing operator: capturing what its team knows, testing where language models can carry part of the process, and training the incoming provider.

The value at stake is not always scientific. It can be a brand’s own history, a claim that has to hold up, or a decision that needs a documented basis.

Before founding Tradiant, Bastien Dubuisson led the UrbIA programme for the Administration du cadastre et de la topographie, delivered under Historical Consulting as part of the national AI4GOV programme (Ministère de la Digitalisation): two centuries of handwritten cadastral registers transcribed automatically and structured.

How we work

Most engagements begin with a short diagnostic: a few days to establish what you hold and what can be done with it. You keep the report whether or not you go further.

Larger programmes are run from Luxembourg, with international specialists mobilised for each engagement, under our scientific direction and a single point of accountability.

We work in English, French, German and Luxembourgish.

What do your records contain, and what can they establish?

If the answer isn’t obvious, let’s talk.

Was wir tun

  1. Schwerpunkt 1
